Product Description: The Hinkley Locomotive Works of Boston was the original supplier of engines to the two foot gauge railroads of Maine. The Hinkley patterns were purchased by the Portland Locomotive Works of Portland, Maine and subsequentially all engines based on the Hinkley patterns were made in Maine. The engine modelled in this kit has the closed cab used by the W.W.&F. Railroad. The engine employes a can motor with 3:1 belt reduction drive and leads to a NWSL Mod 5 gear gearbox (25:1). This drive train offers excellent slow speed operation. As with many of our other engines, the drivers are steel with metal side rods. The frame is made of machine cut aircraft grade plywood. The cab is laser cut aircraft grade plywood. The boiler is made of solid wood with cast metal details including the backhead. Kit #120Nrev Kadee #820 couplers are recommended.
