DOCTOR'S BUGGY CAR KIT LATEST ADDITION TO TIN LIZZY CRAFTS
"The Doctor's Buggy car kit, is made entirely of non-plastic parts,
including basswood, pine and card stock. "
Wiscasset, Maine - Northeast Model Products announces The Doctor's Buggy, its newest addition to the Tin Lizzy Crafts vehicle line.
The Doctor's Buggy is loosely fashioned after typical buggies, including one that can be found at the Boothbay Railway Museum in Boothbay, Maine. An American favorite, it was made popular in the early 1800s when doctors made house calls. They were small, light, and easy on the horse. They were used in rural Maine until the 1930s.
"The roads were so terrible, the buggy was the only thing that could go through," owner and designer, Ted Stinson said.
While most Buggy models are painted all black, most of them had dark green wheels.
"The top was made of frame work which was permanent, analogous to a hard-top today," said Stinson. "They had to use the Buggy at night and in all kinds of weather, so the top was needed."
Like every kit manufactured by Northeast Model Products, The Doctor's Buggy, is made entirely of non-plastic parts, including basswood, pine and card stock. The finished model is 1:20 scale, making it compatible with any large-scale model train. The cost for the complete kit is $75.00, plus shipping and handling.
ABOUT NEMODEL: For 25 years, Ted Stinson has led Northeast Model Products, a family owned business, and proudly manufactured wooden trains, planes, boats and cars made from Maine lumber when many businesses have switched to plastic. The authentic design and superior lumber and craftsmanship are the reason why so many families invest in Stinson's designs. He says, "When choosing to design and manufacture my kits, I choose subject matter that interests me as a long-time builder and what I think will interest other builders like me."
